Connecticut's suburbs and cities are racially and socioeconomically imbalanced - and this leads to and is affected by disparities in education and housing. In this second program of a year-long series, a panel of local experts will discuss the relationship between racial segregation, housing, and education in our state and how we can make a difference.

Tyron V. Harris is the Head of Human Resources for the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art and a member of the East Hartford Board of Education - a position to which he has been elected three times. Mr. Harris holds a BBA in Management with a concentration in Human Resources from the Berkeley College of New York and an Advanced Certificate in Strategic Human Resources from Cornell University.

Alex Putterman is a reporter for The Hartford Courant and author of an in-depth article on racial segregation in West Hartford and Bloomfield. He has also written extensively about COVID-19 and other issues impacting our state. Mr. Putterman's writing has also appeared in The Atlantic, Vice, MLB.com, and SI.com. He grew up in West Hartford and currently lives in East Hartford.

Omarys C. Vasquez, AIA, LEED-AP, is an associate at the architecture firm of Svigals + Partners. Born of migrant parents seeking the American dream, she lived in New York City public housing for much of her young life. Ms. Vasquez is a member of the AIA-Connecticut Women in Architecture Committee and co-founder of the first Connecticut chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects.

Elysa Graber-Lipperman is the incoming Chair of the Jewish Leadership Academy Advisory Board and serves on the Community Conversations program committee. She is a Wexner Heritage Program graduate and longtime Jewish community volunteer who practices law and resides in West Hartford.
