2021 Annual Meeting & Celebration to Take Place Online on September 13

West Hartford, Conn. (August 30, 2021) — On Monday, September 13, community members and friends of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford will gather – virtually – to celebrate community achievements, recognize outstanding service, and elect new leaders at the organization’s Annual Meeting & Celebration.

The 2021 Annual Meeting & Celebration kicks off online at 5:30 p.m. with a virtual toast and a “year in review” video showcasing the many accomplishments of our Jewish community. Dale Atkins, Ph.D., a TV personality, psychologist, and co-author of the “The Kindness Advantage,” will also give a keynote address on “The Kindness Revolution,” featuring expert advice on how to build an even stronger and more vibrant community through our everyday actions.

Awards and Honorees
Other highlights will include the presentation of the Henry M. Zachs Spirit of Judaism Award, which was established seven years ago by the Zachs family to highlight the Greater Hartford Jewish community’s volunteer and professional “unsung heroes.” This year’s award recognizes Shayna Gopin and Stuart Rabinowitz. The award acknowledges Shayna for her passionate dedication to the West Hartford chapter of The Friendship Circle, where she has helped bridge gaps between local Jewish teens living with and without disability, providing countless opportunities for them to socialize, learn, and form lasting friendships. Stuart Rabinowitz will be honored for his vital lay leadership and significant contributions to East Hartford’s small but mighty Temple Beth Tefilah, where he has served as a steadfast volunteer for more than thirty years.

The event will also feature a farewell to outgoing Chair of the Board Carolyn Gitlin and other leaders whose terms are ending, as well as a vote on incoming leaders and remarks by the newly elected Chair of the Board.
