West Hartford, Conn. (October 20, 2019) – Author Renata Bowers will headline Children’s Reading Partners’ Fall 2019 Kickoff on November 4, 2019, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Mandell JCC Innovation Center, 335 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford. Bowers pens the national award–winning Frieda B. children’s book series and recently co-founded The Story Barn, a unique creative space in Somers, Connecticut, with her friend and business partner Paula LaJoie.
Bowers will demonstrate how to use written stories to inspire our own real-life human stories and those of the children we care about. The evening also serves as a brief introduction to Children’s Reading Partners, which offers one-on-one volunteer literacy coaching for at-risk pre-K and elementary school students and enrichment opportunities for children of all reading abilities. The program is free, and all are welcome to attend; a Frieda B. book sale and signing will follow. RSVP by Friday, November 1 to Ronni Breiter at rbreiter@jewishhartford.org or 860.727.6129.
