On Yom Kippur we atone for our individual sins. On Tisha B'Av we atone for our communal sins. Tisha B'Av is an often forgotten holiday. On this day, we remember the countless times in our people's history when it seemed as if all hope were lost, starting with the destruction of the first and second Temples. We read the book of Lamentations and we remind ourselves of how far we still have to go to fulfill the vision our Torah provides of society. And then our tradition takes us from this memory of despair to a place of hope and promise. The future has not happened yet. Please join us for a service to mark this day.
