FIRST MEETING OF TBT MUSIC CIRCLE
Temple Beth Torah Music Circle invites musicians to its second monthly meeting on Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Temple Beth Torah's (TBT) Social Hall.
Helene Rosenblatt is the creator of the Music Circle. As a professional flutist, she has performed throughout Connecticut. Ms. Rosenblatt is Artistic Director of Blackledgemusic, Inc. and the Connecticut Flute Orchestra.
Participants will engage in a guided sight reading of Jewish oriented secular and sacred music from around the world. Ms. Rosenblatt said "the aim is to have fun, gain exposure to varied musical styles that exist in Jewish oriented music." We will delve into Klezmer, Yiddish Theater, Ladino Song, and the evolution of Liturgical music of varied origins. Players of string, wind, and keyboard instruments are welcome - including accordions, guitars, harps, mandolins, and recorders, etc. Percussionists who can read or improvise are welcome. (Minimum musical knowledge requirement is ability to read in 2/4, 3/4, 6/8, 4/4, 2/2, 3/2 meters and to be able to play in key signatures with no, 1, 2, 3, 4 and sharps or flats.)
