About Beit Uri: Imagine a green, spacious community where more than 100 children and adults with special needs live, work, and play side by side with an equal number of professional staff. They attend school, create arts and crafts, care for animals and the land, and run a café-gallery that is open to the public. This is Beit Uri, in Greater Hartford’s sister city of Afula, Israel. Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford has provided financial support to
Beit Uri’s programs since 2002.
About Our Guest Speaker: Jeanette Koll is the Director of Resource Development at Beit Uri. Jeanette’s son Noam has been a Beit Uri resident since 1991. Jeanette was born in London and calls Israel home; she has also lived in Atlanta and Belgrade, Serbia, while her husband served in the Israeli diplomatic service. While in Belgrade, she helped to open the KEC Centre for Special Needs Adults.
