Shabbat Across America
A Special Way to Experience The Jewish Tradition of Shabbat
Turn an ordinary Friday Night Into Something Exceptional
Whether you celebrate Shabbat regularly, or want to learn how to enrich your home Shabbat celebration, you are cordially invited to experience its awe at Congregation Beth Shalom Rodfe Zedek (CBSRZ) on Friday, March 9th at 6:00 pm. You don’t have to be Jewish to participate and learn about this Jewish practice!
All are invited as CBSRZ welcomes the shoreline and surrounding communities as part of a nationwide Shabbat Across America held in over 700 synagogues throughout the United States in celebration of what unifies all Jews - Shabbat. The Jewish Sabbath or Shabbat has been called an “oasis in time” and provides a unique opportunity for spiritual and psychological renewal that comes every week. This will be a community gathering to celebrate Shabbat and to enjoy a festive meal.
A wine and cheese reception for begins at 6:00 pm followed by a traditional family Shabbat dinner with side dishes contributed by congregation members and main course provided by Alforno’s. Rabbi Marci Bellows and Cantor Belinda Brennan will lead an interactive Shabbat service with all the rituals explained. Capping the evening will be an Oneg Shabbat when all are invited to enjoy an array of homemade desserts and fellowship.
This special Shabbat Across America celebration is free of charge and open to the shoreline community and surrounding communities. CBSRZ is a warm and diverse congregation serving the lower Connecticut River Valley and Shoreline region. The congregation welcomes interfaith families, singles and nontraditional families.
