A Chicago native, Joel Chasnoff moved to Israel after college and served in the IDF. He chronicled his army experience in his best-selling memoir, The 188th Crybaby Brigade. Joel currently lives in Ra'anana,Israel with his wife and four children. He is the author of several other best-selling books, including his most recent, Israel 201: Your Next-Level Guide To The Magic, Mystery And Chaos Of Life In The Holy Land. This is an up-close look at daily life in Israel, behind
the headlines and has received praise from such notable Jewish-world voices as Mayim Bialik, Yossi Klein Halevi and former prime minister Ehud Barak. He also is the author of the New York Times-lauded cookbook BALABOOSTA that he wrote with Israeli chef, Einat Admony.
Joel has performed comedy at more than 1,500 Jewish events in 10 countries, including the Melbourne Comedy Festival in Australia, Montreal's Just-for-Laughs, two off-Broadway shows and TV appearances in Israel, Hillel events, JCCs, Jewish Federations and synagogues across the USA.
