Men's Club Breakfast with Danielle Moghadam – The Mashhadi Jews of Iran
The Jews of Mashhad hail from the most religious city of Iran, in the north east of the country. In the mid-nineteenth century, they were forced to convert to Islam. They continued to live as anusim (crypto-Jews) for nearly a century. The effects of this forced conversion continue to be felt in the community today.
Danielle Moghadam hails from Brooklyn, NY. She has a Masters in Middle Eastern Studies from Tel Aviv University and a BA in International Relations & Italian from the State University of New York at New Paltz.
