Hartford Jewish Film Festival: Hartford Premiere: My Hero Brother

Hebrew with English subtitles, Israel, 2016

Documentary, 77 Minutes

Director: Yonatan Nir

On the trek of a lifetime, adult siblings, one with Downs Syndrome and one without, travel from Israel to India to hike through the Himalayas. As the hike intensifies, so do the family dynamics, forcing the siblings to confront unresolved feelings and the complexities of growing up as a pair of siblings with one having special needs. This heart-warming film is set against the richly colored scenery of India and will leave you with a deepened understanding of special needs adults and their families.

A "Reel Talk" discussion follows the screening. Visit www.hjff.org for more information or tickets.
