Jewish Federation and Greater Hartford’s Jewish community are delighted to welcome our new Israeli emissaries, Shaked Buzaglo and Michal Hacmon! They are arriving on August 28… they can’t wait and neither can we! If you’d like to host them for a Shabbat dinner or for a longer visit, please contact Carrie Berman at cberman@jewishhartford.org or 860.727.6137.
Shaked is from Nesher, in the north of Israel, where he lives with his parents, Avi and Eti, and two sisters, Rotem and Maayan. Shaked has been very involved in his local scout movement, Nesharim, and has spent several summers working as a camp counselor. At school he studied electronics, physics, international relations and diplomacy. Shaked is also an avid basketball player… if you’d like to shoot some hoops with him, let us know!
Michal lives in Gan Ner, a village on Mount Gilboa in the north of Israel. She lives with her mother and father, Liora and Tzvika, and her three siblings – 21-year-old triplets! Michal studied biology and physics at school and is curious about how the world works. She was also involved with the Bnei Hamoshvim youth movement, which had a huge impact on her values. In her free time, Michal enjoys cooking, baking, running and going to the beach.
