Destination Hartford Welcomes First New Residents

As our nation continues to recalibrate to COVID-19 realities, Jewish families from across the U.S. are relocating to less densely populated areas – and many are choosing Greater Hartford. Elliot Koenigsberg and his wife are among the most recent arrivals to our region, and Federation’s Destination Hartford initiative played a pivotal role in their relocation from New York. It helped Elliot connect with employment opportunities, and he recently began a new role as a senior tax associate at BlumShapiro.

Elliot says he has already felt the warmth of our local Jewish community. “My wife comes from a Conservative background, while I come from an Orthodox background. We were looking for a place where we could find both communities and feel comfortable. Greater Hartford is an incredibly special place; it’s rare to find an inclusive Jewish community where you belong regardless of sect. We also love its affordability and centralized location.”

Elliot and his wife were referred to Federation by Rabbi Tuvia Brander of Young Israel of West Hartford. “Rabbi Brander and Rabbi Rosen [of Beth El Temple] welcomed us with open arms,” Elliot notes. He adds, “Destination Hartford helped us ultimately arrive at our destination: a growing Jewish community where we look forward to starting a family.”

We wish Elliot and his wife the best as they explore everything our region has to offer. To learn more about Destination Hartford, contact Carrie Berman at cberman@jewishhartford.org or 860.727.6137.
