The Israeli Young Emissary program is a 10-month-long volunteer service experience sponsored jointly by the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI) and the Southern New England Consortium (SNEC), a partnership of 11 Jewish Federations in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Some Israeli high school graduates from the Afula-Gilboa region choose to defer their army service and are trained to serve as young ambassadors of Israel to the communities in their partnership region in Southern New England. Each year, the Greater Hartford community hosts two of these amazing young adults.
The mission of the Young Emissary program is to strengthen the ties between the two regions by building living bridges through people-to-people connections and by strengthening the ties to Israel among the Jewish people living in the host communities.
