Late on Friday, September 8th, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit Morocco near Marrakech, a city of more than one million residents. As of the writing of this email, more than 2,400 people have been confirmed dead and at least 2,000 more injured, many of them critically, with numbers expected to increase in the coming days.
The people of Morocco need our help right now.
The earthquake also caused widespread damage and destruction within the ancient quarters of Marrakech – home to a majority of the country’s Jewish population along with Casablanca – and rural villages throughout the region.
