We know that a lack of menstrual supplies and other hygiene items can negatively affect a person's quality of life, making it difficult or even impossible to do things we often take for granted, like attending school or going to work. What's more, federal grant programs don't cover these items and people often don't think to donate them to food pantries.
That's why our Federation's Women's Philanthropy Division launched Dignity GrowsTM. We will be assembling Dignity Packs of menstrual and toiletry supplies to be given to those in need through Jewish Family Services and Mikveh Bess Israel.
More than 50 local women attended the launch event at a private home on Thursday, February 28, 2019. This is just the beginning of something that we hope will have a huge impact on people in need across Greater Hartford! Volunteers, financial contributions and in-kind donations are welcome.
