Passport to Israel is a cooperative incentive savings program in which families, congregations and the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford each contribute funds toward an educational program in Israel for participating students.

Saving For The Trip of a Lifetime

Application Deadline December 31, 2008

The Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford’s Commission on Jewish Education & Leadership  (CJEL) is currently enrolling up to 40 students in grades Kindergarten and higher in the Passport to Israel Savings Program. Passport to Israel is a cooperative incentive savings program in which families, congregations and the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford annually contribute funds toward an educational program in Israel for participating students.

Applications for Passport to Israel are being accepted through December 31, 2008.  Until then, families contributing a minimum of $200 will receive $50 from Federation and $50 from their synagogue every year through 10th grade.  Participating synagogues include: Congregation Tikvoh Chadoshoh, Bloomfield; Temple Beth Sholom, Manchester; Temple Sinai, Newington, Beth David Synagogue, Beth El Temple, Congregation Agudas Achim, Congregation Beth Israel, Emanuel Synagogue and  Kehilat Chaverim in West Hartford;

This past summer, nine Jewish Greater Hartford teens used their Passport to Israel savings to participate in an Israel summer experience, including Bnai Brith Youth Organization (BBYO),  Euro-Israel Journey, National Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY) in Israel, Nishmat, Ramah Seminar in Israel, United Synagogue Youth (USY) Israel Pilgrimage, and Young Judea Israel.  For more information please contact the Commission on Jewish Education & Leadership at the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, 860-727-6135, or ktrager@jewishhartford.org.
