Federation Homes is a HUD subsidized low-income independent housing for the elderly and the handicapped sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford.   Our main goal is to provide a quality, low-cost alternative to the elderly and handicapped in our community.

Below is a brief listing of what you can expect from us:

  • Live in the privacy of your apartment. Each apartment has a living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen with full size refrigerator/freezer and four burner stove and oven. Each apartment is carpeted and has its own air conditioner and heat controls.
     
  • Transportation to town services is provided by the Bloomfield minibus and the Connecticut Transit Authority.
     
  • A Kosher meal is provided daily by CRT in our dining room.
     
  • A Food Share food pantry is available in the building.
     
  • Laundry facilities, lending library and crafts rooms are available to all residents
     
  • A podiatrist is in the clinic bi-monthly.
     
  • Staff is on site five days a week to assist in programming activities, wellness and advocacy.

Federation Homes is a Managed Residential Community (MRC), enabling a variety of supportive services. Hebrew Health Care offers an Assisted Living Services Agency (ALSA) office to residents which guarantees general nursing services and assistance with daily activities are available to all residents, including those with chronic and stable medical conditions.

Hebrew Health Care offers a complete continuum of care to older residents of the Greater Hartford community. While Hebrew Health Care programs are offered in an Orthodox Jewish environment, providing Kosher food and observation of religious customs, we are non-sectarian in all of our programs, and welcome people of all religious and ethnic backgrounds.

Through these affiliates, Hebrew Health Care offers long-term care, hospital care, assisted living, home health care, adult day centers, as well as short-term rehabilitation and medical and therapy services for adults of any age.

People who know us feel very passionately about Hebrew Health Care. Families have sought our health services across five generations. Many of our dedicated staff have been with us for over 25 years. More than 400 people volunteer their time to support our mission. And even more provide the financial support that any non-profit organization needs to achieve greatness.

Hebrew Health Care's Adult Day Centers provide an alternative to leaving older adults alone for the day. Members socialize with their peers, participate in recreational activities, enjoy nutritious meals, and receive health and wellness services in a safe and caring environment. Whether part time for caregiver respite or full time to ensure safety, adult day services give families piece of mind that their loved ones are not home alone and isolated, but safely engaged in have meaningful activities with their friends.

On its main campus in West Hartford, you will find a range of fitness, recreation, education and cultural facilities including a new fitness center, a cultural center, a preschool, an aquatics center, a theater, a family room, an art gallery, a lecture hall and a physical therapy center.  Off campus, the Mandell JCC includes two seasonal recreation/educational facilities – a waterfront summer camp in the woods and a suburban swim and tennis club.
